FBI Conducts Search in Georgia Over 2020 Election Fraud Allegations
The search was conducted under a warrant and is reportedly connected to efforts by federal authorities to obtain election-related records and examine claims of voter fraud in the county, which encompasses Atlanta, the state’s largest city and capital.
Since his defeat in 2020, Trump has repeatedly asserted—without evidence—that the election was stolen from him, frequently highlighting Georgia as a central focus of what he described as a rigged process.
Federal officials have previously taken legal action against Fulton County election administrators in an attempt to compel the release of records from the 2020 vote, though a final decision in that case has yet to be issued.
Earlier reviews by federal authorities during Trump’s first term found no proof of widespread voter fraud that would have altered the outcome of the election in Georgia.
Following his loss, Trump pursued efforts within the state aimed at reversing the results. These included a recorded phone call in which he urged Georgia’s secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, a Republican, to “find” enough votes to overturn his defeat.
Despite those efforts, Trump ultimately lost both Georgia and the presidency. Several individuals connected to attempts to reverse the election outcome were later criminally charged, though those cases were eventually dropped.
Much of Trump’s criticism centered on Fulton County, an area with a predominantly non-white electorate that voted heavily in favor of Biden.
Since returning to the White House for a second term in 2024, Trump has continued to claim that individuals he believes were involved in alleged election misconduct would eventually face repercussions.
